Just caught this on the web.

Someone tried to do the tab to Hoogie Boogie Land..and added a little commentary as well.

Yo Dave,

I just stumbled upon your Complete youtube doc the other day and find myself oddly compelled to cover and/or remix a Complete composition. Do you think Curtis and the group would mind? You wanna throw down some bass (of course only under the condition you use a pick)? Do you happen to have an email address so I can ask their permission?

Kind regards,
tom

I am pretty sure they wouldn't mind at all. The best place to get in touch with them is their MySpace page.

I would recommend Hot as Hell. It would be the coolest one to do a legitimate version of. :)

Hey Dave. Just saw the Complete vids on youtube. Nobody's going to accuse them of competence but anyone who's listened to a decent range of rock music will hear something in it they can relate to something else. The vocals in particular are reminiscent of Captain Beefheart (whether that's deliberate of not). Other people have mentioned Flipper, and another band who had no concern for technique (but brought a lot of joy to people), The Shaggs. I don't know if they were necessarily aware of those bands. It seems to me that these guys got excited about doing something that was a bit wild, original, chaotic and passionate, and had a good time playing it, and didn't stop to worry about how technically 'good' their playing was or whether they sounded like Bon Jovi. And that excitement comes across, and that's what rock'n'roll has always been about. And that's one reason why I get something out of Complete and nothing from Nickelback.

I had a look at some of your "behind the music" video. There are people in this world who do stuff from the heart, and people like you who try to score points by sneering at them. I'd be interested to hear your band - I'm guessing you'd be more of a Nickelback guy. I expect you'd have a great laugh over a lot of stuff that doesn't fit into your narrow definition of 'good music', whatever that may be. Making that video probably made you feel better about yourself, and how you've never managed to get anywhere with your own music. But Dave, while Complete might have never been destined for widespread popularity, they've got something you'll never have.
